About the event

In collaboration with The Kitchen Table, we are delighted to host food writer Eleanor Ford to celebrate the launch of her exquisite new book, A Whisper of Cardamom.

This event is perfect for foodies who love to explore the use of spices as well as home bakers interested in moving away from sickly sweet desserts and towards more nuanced, sweet-savoury flavours. It's also Mother's Day, so a great excuse to treat yourself (or your loved ones) to an afternoon outing.

Enjoy an informal talk and Q&A with the author and learn about the history, culture and symbolism surrounding spice use around the world. Treat yourself to a glass of prosecco on arrival followed by afternoon tea, where you can indulge in a selection of delicious treats from the book, all included in your ticket price!

Eleanor Ford is a food writer and a cook who loves to travel. Her second book, Fire Islands, published in May 2019 by Murdoch Books, won two Gourmand World Cookbook awards in 2020 and was winner of the Food and Drink Book of the Year at the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards, which celebrate world-class travel writing.

Eleanor will be doing book signings at the event and 'A Whisper of Cardamom' will be available to purchase on the day. If you can't wait that long, pop in to The Kitchen Table in Shaftesbury to purchase an advance copy!

NB: This event is seated at tables - please make sure that you tell us if you would like to be seated with someone who has booked separately.

If you purchase an individual ticket to this event, you will likely be sharing a table with other solo guests.

We will do our best to seat groups together, but there is a small chance that you may be sharing a table with another booking.

If you have any questions about the booking process, just let us know.
